Review - 'The Rum Diary' 
So went to see 'The Rum Diary' Today.
I was quite disappointed in this film as the trailer made it look ALOT more funnier than what it actually is
Johnny Depp plays the lead Character (Paul)... Paul has gone to Spain to start writing for a Newspaper company but instead finds himself covering horoscopes
Then he just goes off the rails. He gets involved in some 'shifty' development issues, falls in love with a girl, gets arrested and pretty much drinks rum throughout the film.
It took me a while to get to grips with what the storyline even was.... I'm still not 100% sure I even get what was going on half the time.
It is quite a boring film and apart from a few laughs doesn't give much entertainment. It's a true story... so they obv have to stick with the whole 'telling the story of the Journalist' kinda thing... which doesn't give much for playing around with I suppose.
There's a scene that made me LAUGH OUT LOUD - Where Paul had to sit on his mate's knee whilst driving a tiny car. They look like idiots bouncing along the round with Paul having to put his head through the sun roof. Then a police car is beside them and Paul is all like; "act normal"... LOL!!
Deffo NOT one of JD's best films. Infact, if I wern't a JD fan I sooooo would not have seen this film... like... EVER!!!
See it if: You like films where the characters drink, smoke and swear most of the time.
Don't see it if: You like to be entertained alot and need to know what's going on within minutes of watching a film.
Ps - Sorry I have only talked about JD's part in the film. Guess it's just because I went to see it because of him. LOL!!
lol I'd heard of this movie and wasquite keen to see it, now I think I'll wait until it comes out on DVD. Thanks for sharing your review
