For all you iphone owners out there.
I finally got around to activating the mobile me function. I wish I'd done it sooner. It's dead good.
It takes a couple of minutes to set up (instructions here), but means I can go to www.me.com and login, then track where either of our iphone's are at any given time. Basically the phone is shown on a google map.
Handy if either of us are on a big road trip.
A god send if either of us lose our iPhones.
From the PC you can force a message to the handset even forcing an noise even if sound is off. You can lock the handset remotely and in worse case scenario, scrub it.
Ace.

It's ace. Already saved us. Clara dropped her iphone getting into her car the other side of town.
A couple of hours later we noticed it gone, tracked it and found it by the kerb.
Lifesaver!
Re: your probs. No expert on this stuff. The only thing I know about the signal is the good old grip of death problem you probably know about. A bumper case sorts that. And regarding it dimming, I had this on the 3gs where a case was covering the little light sensor that detected whether you were holding it to your ear.
