Default ODEON Photos of Food / drink / popcorn prices

Address: Odeon Cinema, Wellingborough Road, Kettering. NN15 6XS
Date of menu: 14th August 2010
Would I recommend this place? For watching a movie, yes. But take your own munchies.

Took the kids to toy story 3 today and had opportunity to snap some of the prices. I reckon it costs 5p to make a tub of popcorn. Not bad markup eh? We didn't try the nachos or hotdogs so can't comment on the prices.

I bought a coke for £3.25. Smuggled in a couple of capri suns for the kids, a bag or revels and a bag of popcorn. Probably saved £15.00 doing that.

You can "save" a bit by going for combos but it's still expensive. I guess if going for a date you won't want to pull a pack of crisps out of your pocket , but other than that, TAKE YOUR OWN.

Large popcorn and large Pepsi £7!!!!!

Assume a Large Pepsi is 1 Litre - (its probably not, but lets assume) - Cookies Detecting! (2 Litre for £1 - so £0.50 worth in the cinema).

Lets assume a LARGE popcorn is 2 of these: Cookies Detecting! - £2.00

so, its retail £2.50 (cost to cinema is probably, what, £0.50 at best?)

hmmm 1300% profit - almost 3 times more than a supermarket.

Really annoys me that they charge this - The film is hardly "cheap" - seen as you can get the DVD for a tenner when its out! Hardly suprising people download illigally.

I take my own. I buy Butterkiss popcorn from (a well known supermarket) and then some pop. Well cheaper.

I never end up eating all the popcorn from the cinemas anyways.... so not even getting my moneys worth

Too right. I can't help thinking that slashing the price by 50% would equal 300% more people buy (and less parents feeling like they've just been robbed!).

The Empire in Sutton Coldfield has a newsagent almost next door that sells sweets and drinks much cheaper and yet there is always a queue at the refreshments in the cinema - IMHO people shouldn't pay the inflated prices as it just encourages them. I think the cost of getting a family of four in is expensive enough. (there's also a pound shop on the way if you go via the Parade )

Completely agree. They're mad. Especially now they're losing their big advantage. 3D movie channel has just been launched by virgin and sky launches theirs soon. Before long 50" 3d Tv's in homes will no longer be rare.

So hire a 3d movie for a fiver plus munchies from the supermarket for another 3 quid, or take the kids to the cinema and get no change from 40 quid. It's a no-brainer really. They need to sort it out.
