Here are a few tips for offline comps:

Get free postacrds where you can - Cinemas are a good one!
Set a budget - A 2nd class stamp is only pennies (27p goes upto 30p on April 6th!) but they soon add up! I personally have done £25 in the last week or so - Set a budget and stick to it! Entering is meant to be fun, not a financial worry!
Use good quality postcards with bright, attractive piccies. - You want to get noticed afterall! And try to match up where you can - example, use a postcard with a beach/holiday scene if your looking to win a holiday comp - may not seem important, but you never can tell what will attract the judges eye!
Be ligible - Your writing needs to be readable to get in the comp!
Be careful with self addressed labels - try to mix the type you use - Some companies all go through a certain holding company (National magazine company in Worksop for example) - Bulk entries sometimes get questioned!

Dont get greedy - Entering more than once to the same comp can get you zero entries - and you waste your money on stamp/postcard!
Dont use 1st class stamps - Over 100 comps, you lose £9! - Enough for a 30+ entries!!!
Have fun with it - Dont take the whole thing to seriously. - Its a fun passtime - Not a target to use hundreds of stamps a week!
And finally, personalise your entry - Use a stamper froma sraft shop - I use a little bear with "good luck" written under it - £1 well spent in the craft shop - Just makes the card a little more attractive!
Any more tips anyone?
