Angry British Gas to go up by 35% immediately.

    Incredible!!!

British Gas owner Centrica has announced it is to raise gas prices by 35% and electricity prices by 9%.
The UK's biggest domestic energy supplier said that the price hikes will take place with immediate effect.
Just heard - British Gas to increase gas by 35% and electricity by 9%!!!

No other way of putting it. We're being shafted by other countries and foreign companies. We should not be dependent on other countries to this degree for our power. We've touched on this before.

Forget the war on Terror Mr Brown. This is a bigger threat to national security. This is happening on your government's watch so you're responsible!! We should n

We can hope it will go down, but we're I don't think as a country we're in a good position for it to go down. As we're at the mercy of other countries for our gas (linked to the price of oil) and foreign companies. Sadly. Soon we will be importing 40% of our gas.

Another result of short termism from the government.

Frankly I can't believe an obviously clever bloke like Gordon Brown (with his heart in the right place) would let himself get into this position. I'm surprised he never jumped ship with Blair.

Nail on the head Calloo. Pensioners have a fixed income. They can't go out and get an extra part time job or do more overtime or whatever.

When council tax and utility bills keep rising and pensions don't in comparison (Bull inflation figures) pensioners are getting older.

Centrica still made the best part of a Billion in profits. These companies think they've the God given rights to get massive profits.
