    Default Amazon Marketplace

Have any FF members ever used it?

I have quite a few uni books I've finished with and am looking at selling and was wondering if Amazon Marketplace was better than Ebay.

The fees seem quite high but for books I reckon it could be a better market than Ebay.

If I sell something for £5, minus all the fees after postage I get £5.54 but have to take postage out of this.

If I sell something for £15 I get £13.81 which seems a bit naff.

Yup used to use it a lot - you get your account closed though for bad feedback because hardly any leave feedback (as I found out lol). E.g mine was closed because I got bad feedback for 1 buyer complaining they had to pay £4 in P&P charges for a SIM (classed as electrical) when it cost me a 1st class stamp to send!

Fees are extortionate. You can list free though and see if they go and then try ebay if you don't have any luck.

I've popped a few things on Ebay and a few on Marketplace. I've also put a CD on Playtrade, see how well that works.

The fees are a lot but it does make sense as if customers books or cd's are cheaper than theirs they are missing out on a sale.

I'm trying to sell whatever I can, in serious need of some money as at the moment I'm volunteering 3days a week which is gonna be great for my experience/career but not the wallet!

I have some piggy points to claim, was thinking of getting a voucher to sell on, in your experience (I know HC has sold vouchers on ebay) which vouchers sell best?

    Thanks

All my PB money goes to charity and usually only sell Amazon vouchers since free P&P (just e-mail). Vouchers are gonna cost £11.50 for £10.

Not sure how the Alton Towers etc ones would do... if you go for Arcadia that combines Dorothy Perkins, Topshop etc so better than those separate ones.

    Completed Arcadia vouchers

HMV voucher went for £8 free postage

    Completed £10 Boots vouchers

All just depends on whos buying really... some vouchers can even go for more than their worth.

Hmmm, tis a bit hit and miss as you say.

It works out cheaper to redeem CDWow vouchers although there doesn't seem to be any previously sold on ebay for some reason.

Will be interesting how you get on. This is something a friend is looking at in a big way. He's selling a lot via ebay and looking at merketplace as another sales channel.

Ebay is a pain it's costing approx £2k per month in listing fees just to get people to the ebay store. Like you say, it costs nothing to list on Amazon but final value fees are higher.

After fees and postage you generally get less than 50% of the money. PlayTrade seems to be cheaper but they charge for putting money in the bank (still think it works out a bit cheaper though).

The pro-merchant subscription would prob be a lot better for businesses although you get a discount you still need to pay £30 a month.
