Official Fire crew attacks 'on the rise'

The number of violent attacks on fire crews in England and Wales is going up despite government claims to the contrary, the Fire Brigades Union says.
Assaults rose from 1,300 in 2006 to 1,500 in 2007, the union said. Official figures fell from 1,300 to 400.
It said such attacks had become a "recreational activity" with crews facing a daily threat of being ambushed, shot at, stabbed and abused.

IMO this is one of those which is a no brainer - imediate or even escort response from the police to known blackspots and 10 years in jail for the offenders - if its kids then the same for the parents! once 2 or 3 a**eholes are in jail the message will be sent.
If they are council or h/a tennants - automatic eviction same as a lot of areas do for drug dealers.

bet the government spends a fortune investgating it - with loads of excuses for mps to do fact finding missions to teneriffe and claim expenses for said fact finding missions before deciding that it will cost too much to protect the firemen unless they cut the firemens wages! (oh and put the council tax up again)

Oh and yet again the government are giving us made up figures - because they don't really believe we have a brain between us - and think that they can tell us what they like and do what they like as they are above the people. Bare faced lies just show s the contempt they hold the public in!

The fact the the government's figures don't relate to the fire union doesn't really suprise.

Normally when the government is embarrased about figures they just claim not to collect them .

How about arming the firefighters? Shoot on site the first kid to throw something.

I wonder if the parents will notice if their darling little angels don't return home. Probably not.

no its no surprise at all- after all achording to government figures - Fire fighters, nurses , (the list is endless) are over paid whilst of course the MP's are woefully underpaid (and over worked!). None of the governments figures EVER make sense and TBH they rarely try to make them make sense - they have such contempt that they openly lie - knowing we can't do anything about it. The "oposition" don't opose really - they just try to undermine so they can be the ones to choose how to rip joe public off - but the reality is they're ALL dishonest crooks! and every day they make themselves less and less acountable with back door laws and regulations. There's talk of even more fuel tax - they don't care they get there's for free and in case for some reason they can't they acan make it back with the duty free shop and bar in the houses of parliament!
We wonder at the state of the country - but when its run by lying conmen its no wonder the kids grow up with no respect - it is very hard to respect a corrupt system!

What this country needs more than anything is a modern day Guy Fawkes with a bit more luck than his predecessor - although of course the reality is even that wouldn't solve anything since most MP's rarely actully turn up and the fewt that do are only there to sleep so hardly worth blowing up! Unless of course he does it on the day the MP's vote on whether they should accept their pay rise of (i believe its 8%?) when of course they'll all be there to ensure their pockets get lined properly - but if there is anyone who facies their chances - don't waste your bomb in the debating chambers - they'll only be there just long enough to vote yes - you'll have far more sucess in the MP only duty free bar!

Promise me one thing. You're not going to blow up the commons?

I sense that'd be a problem for our friendly forum.

HaHa no not a job for me i'm afraid .... tho i think in reality i'd be quite popular if i did! . No its a shame we can't do anything about our corrupt government (or anything important in our country for that matter) They say if you don't vote its a wasted vote but the choices they give you don't exactly count for anything either - its the old addage for some - better the devil you know than the devil you don't - unfortunately either way you get a devil or in the case of this countries politicians a CROOK!
Its just nice to be able to let off steam without getting arrested for it lol!
