Do any of you use Skype? Have been thinking about getting this for a while now, and wondered what your experiences were of it? Lisa x

got it on my asus eee701 - Its fine but if you ahve a mobile with decent no. mins, its not worth it. Its easy enough, just top up and off you go. U have to pay for a number though if you want people to be able to call you!
Its not as great as they make out. A contract mobile does same job - free mins etc.

we bboth have skype - i talk to my old man in France couple of times a week and keep in touch with loads of people with it - it is free for pc to pc calls you only have to pay if you're phoning a telephone .
i think its far better than messenger since you don't have to type - i often do clicks whilst chatting plus if the other person ha a web cam you can see each other - introduced my mother to it the other day and now she's forever calling me to "remind me of this" or "show me that" and as its free is far more convenient than a phone if you're home or have a laptop]
- 02-07-2008 11:26 PM #5GPB_NeilGuestI use it occassionally for meetings etc in different countries.
PC to PC it's free so it's great, but I do find my PC gets slower & slower if I leave it running, so it's disabled unless I want to use it.
For regular calls I just use 18866

I take it that you put 18866 before you dial the number, and then it makes the call cheaper? Lisa x

- 02-08-2008 04:12 PM #8GPB_NeilGuestYou have to sign up via www.18866.com first & then calls are about 5p no matter how long you are on the phone.
You get billed every few months on your credit card & I think the highest bill I've had is about £4 but then I don't have any friends

Will have to sort something out, as most of my BT bill is for the line rental. I also get charged quarterly now for the fact that I don't pay by direct debit. If I can find a way of saving a few pounds each quarter, then I'll be very happy. Lisa x
