With all the stuff happening recently like youngsters getting stabbed/shot, etc, do you think weapons being sold on the internet should be banned?
Personally i think it's encouraging people to get involved in crime/fighting and worse and it definitely should be banned. We've recently had a case in Halifax where i live, a 50 year old guy was set upon by 4 or 5 yobs aged in their early 20s, he was beaten with various items including some kind of a martial arts weapon, i can't remember the name of it but it's one of those sticks which on the end has a metal ball attached to a chain, and there are metal spikes coming out of the ball. This poor guy was beaten round the head and body with this weapon, among other things, had his head trodden on several times, and he died. Now apparently these martial arts weapons are available to buy on ebay for £12.99, and they're probably easy to get hold of on other sites too. How can all this crime and murder be stopped when things are so easy to get hold of?? I think it's about time that sites such as ebay took more responsiblity and banned this kind of thing.

Its the usual thing where some idiots ruin it for everyone else. I knew someone who collected swords and knives as a hobby. He sharpened them and displayed them, if he ever took a sword out of the house it was padlocked in the sheth so that it couldn't be used.
Even now at the country & western we hardly ever do any quick draw contests with replica guns as too many people take it the wrong way.
Selling them online has made the problems worse. When it was only in the specialist shops the traders got to know the real collectors and could tell with a bit of conversation which customers were the idiots just wanting a big knife.

I may be a kill joy, but I think we should always err on the side of safety.
If 50 people get pleasure out of these things, perhaps in martial arts or collections, but 1 person decides to buy one to beat someone up with them then they shouldn't be available. Ebay certainly shouldn't be selling them willy nilly!
Perhaps make them available, but under license similar to gun ownership. Martial arts schools and collectors can purchase, not some angry 14 year on ebay!

if the authorities cant stop child ****, what makes you think they will stop people selling weapons?
not saying i dont agree with them being banned coz i do but the net is impossible to police so it will never happen, ebay cover thier own backsides by saying that account holders have to be over a certain age so they cant be held accountable, also on the licence front, in america its legal to hold your own arms, and we can easily access the american ebay and buy off of them, so they can get around it that way!

The thing with eBay is it's the 'responsibility' of the public to inform them about listings of prohibited items or they'll never have any idea what's being sold and turn a blind eye.
But going by my experience, it doesn't matter what the object is - the majority of things can potentially do damage... my brother was arrested last week on an attempted murder charge for hitting someone with something you fit carpets with and I don't see those getting banned for being a weapon.
I do think that if an item is classed as a weapon it should be banned but then you have to decide how far you want to go - would you stop the selling of kitchen knives, glass bottles and other everyday items that could cause a lot of damage if used irresponsibly? Bro was also stabbed in the neck with a screwdriver that nearly hit his windpipe.
If actual weapons like guns etc. are not available you can be sure someone intending to hurt someone will find something else to use. And just going by my bro... he's 33 so should know better - he knew what he did was wrong but still did it and he has to face the consequences.

Thanks Stressy but I'm fine! Me and sis actually hope it does him some good! Hadn't even heard from him since about July when he texted to say he was sorry he'd forgotten my birthday the month before with his excuse being drugs. We live in the same town but only ever hear from him if he's after money.
