Default British troups on the withdrawal

"The final withdrawal of British troops in Iraq from their base at Basra Palace is almost complete, sources have informed the BBC."

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/mid...st/6975375.stm

Got to hand it to brown.

A couple of weeks ago he was stood with bush at the White house and Bush was going on about how "this fellow knows how important it is to keep troops there........." basically piling on the pressure.

Looks like Brown's his own man, quietly getting on with the job, and has started the withdrawal now. Those troops were at the palace getting shot at daily anyhow. Ridiculous.

Now the troops are near the airport, it wouldn't surprise me if all of a sudden they disappeared completely overnight one night.

The sooner the better now if you asked me.

Bush can send his own kids to guard the Basra palace if he likes.

The whole point of the thing is that the country is handed back to the people. It's about time too

If the locals had any brains they would stop killing each other for a while, then the troops would all be withdrawn and they could do whatever they want after that. The longer they keep killing the troops the longer they will stay

Reports yesterday were saying that it's much more chilled in Basra since the British moved out of town.
