    Default Mike reid dies

Mike reid died today at 67.

he is said to have died of a heart attack.

He retired to Spain 2 years ago after the big janine story line.

I think its such a shame to see such a great man die. He always made me laugh & smile.

personally & i have always thought this. When such busy people who have lead such busy lives as mike did, retire there bodys give up. I know so many old people and when they stop or lose mobility there bodys start giving up. Its such a shame.

Its ironic, he retires to enjoy the rest of his life & quality time with his family & this happens.

God bless him and his family.

Tis sad. Was a great character. A proper personality. One in a million.

a sad loss for the british public!

i agree with your idea- i worked at sea for years (deep sea trawling) and often sailed with guys of 70+ years old doing the same work as men half their age and they always claimed the same when they were asked why they didn't retire - it is a common occurance fishermen often die once they stop going to sea - the romantic in me says its cos the call of the sea destroys them , but the truth is after a very active life to simply stop the body can't cope.
When you exercise a warm down is as important as the work out . i think work is the same and when you retire stopping isn't good. Look at all the actors actresses that live to a ripe old age - most have been working right upto the last - in some cases like Tommy cooper even die whilst working
