Thumbs down High winds in Scotland

I hope everyones safe and well today - the weather forecast is creeping me out! I've been waiting to hear from work but they haven't been in touch yet, although I found out via my work webmail that classes are cancelled from noon and I'm due to start at noon... methinks I won't be going in - fingers crossed I don't lose pay over this somehow *'snotmyfaultbloomingweather* :-/

It's crazy isn't it! Nephew isn't going to nursery - all the schools have been cancelled here.

I'm looking outside and there's like a small-ish breeze - scary stuff(!) but earlier this morning it got really bad, poured with rain and it was so windy and loud I thought a tropical storm was starting(!) then it just stopped. I read on the BBC News site that police advise against non essential travel in West Lothian between 2-9pm, so I've said im not going in but lets hope it does get bad in as much as to prove I was right(?). I was due to start work now... I've been told other staff are leaving too but they might be working at home and I can't do that given the job I do :-/

Been very windy here since last night. It was still really dark at 10:30am but brightening up a bit now.

Just heard buses are getting cancelled now too.

He was just taking the credit while I was trying to warm my hands up

Seems to be getting worse here. Lights started flickering so got the candles out. Going to charge my DS just incase. Best torch ever!

Lol...sounds like its worse where you are, its not that bad at the moment, just a bit blowy but not too bad really :-/ I just read they were 8mph off the all time record at the Cairngorms summit - they've just recorded 165mph!

Just read this on twitter too

Public are advised to plan ahead for any power cuts. People should have candles and torches ready and mobile phones charged. #scotstorm
so it sounds like your doing the right thing.

This is the damage caused to our neighbours garage roof:- http://www.twitpic.com/7qbems
(though it was pretty rotten to start with, they tend to do botched jobs *ahem* but all the same(!)) I can see one of the sheets that used to be on top of the garage, lying in our garden now(!).

My dad left work in Dunfermline at 11am and didn't get home until about 2:30pm.
