Default Tipping the postman for Christmas?

Just wondering. Do any of you guys tip the postman or give him anything for Christmas?

Our postie is a good un, really friendly and looks after us, so was wondering what the norm is amongst you guys.

I think it used to be quite common but less so now what with a higher turnover of staff and more temps being used.

No chance. We seem to have a different postie each day and they don't come until 1pm - 4pm!

I've had loads go missing too, including an iPod (not saying it's the postie nicking stuff, could be the sorting office). Royal Mail are a waste of space!

We had a regular postie for years but mum didn't like him to never got a tip

Last few years we seem to have a new one weekly. Just googled and one site suggests giving your postie £20-£30

OH's brother is a postie and he used to make a few hundred quid in xmas tips! I'll find out how he did this year - my guess is 73p

I usually give a bottle of red and a bottle of white to the postman.

Its only a tenner and he is a legend! Leaving parcels hidden when Im out or just opening the door and leaving it in the porch etc. And he does have his work cut out for him when he delivers here lol.

So I think its a worth while thing to do and a tenner is plenty!

You make a good argument for leaving the old boy a little gift. A couple of bottles of wine could be a priceless investment for another year of good service.

The probable mark the tippers / non tippers at the sorting office.

    Give it a go Tink

I have NEVER given anything to a postie. Feel quite bad now after reading this thread.

Though. The one I have this year kindly leaves parcels in the porch area so I don't have to go trailing down the Post Office with a RED CARD!!! (I hate them RED CARDS)...

SOOOO... I might buy him a box of chocs. Though... I never see him, so don't know how I would get them to him!!
