    Default Damn cars!

Had car troubles at the weekend. Took it to the garage today and they've diagnosed a dodgy part that needs replacing.

    Total bill = £761.

Nice timing. Proper kick in the nuts.

The electronic Throttle unit or something. You wonder why they can't fix these bits. Always seems to be a simple "need to replace".

Yes funny that isn't it. We had to have a part replaced on our ford car a few months back, and to get an official Ford part would cost over £500. Our local garage got the same part, but non ford for just under £200.

Like you said you do wonder at times whether a new part is nessicary, and if you go with your cars dealer how much money they are over charging you.

Thanks guys. As it happens, there was a 2 day wait for the saab part. I did put it to them about sourcing the part elsewhere. They said they tried and had no joy.

I made it my mission and found the exact part, brand new, manufactured by saab for £300 less. Go figure.

I bought it and had it couriered directly to the garage.

They're fitting it today. Fingers crossed.
