    Default External HD problem HELP!

I'm probable not going to have any joy here.

We bought a mini LAN drive that drooler suggested. We use it at home as a central store. I back it up every month or so.

A certain someone knocked it off the desk! Now it doesn't spin up when you turn it on. The light comes on but nothing happens.

I've opened it up, gave everything a wiggle to no avail!

I've contacted tech support and awaiting a response. I've googled stuff about waving it about and stuff.

Anybody any other suggestions. Loads of work will be lost.

    Yesterday the Washing machine!
    Then the dedicated server!
    Now this!

It could be that the pins on the drive have pulled free from the female counterparts on the board . If so try pushing them back in, screw the drive tighter to the board, and see if that solves it. Lisa x

That's pretty damn plausible. Will tighten what I can. Thanks lisa.

Sorted!!! Dismantles it and realised the whole lot has slipped away from the connector. Loosened the screws, adjusted position and re-tightened! Fired it up and it's cracked it!

You've saved me so much hassle. Thanks loads.

Good idea . No I work with the elderly, but I have a keen interest in comps so I've picked up on one or two things with regards to them. Lisa x
