    Default SKY+ Free from 1st July / & Problems

Sky are removing the Sky+ charge from 1st July.

I will be going down from £32 a month to £21

If you havent got Sky+ just grab a cheap box off Eaby for around £50, add a Quad LNB for around £15, and add an extra cable and you can easily set yourself up for under £100!

Nice one! Now if they could only sort out the dodgy reception I'd be very happy. Looks like the offer is for previous customers only, but then all you'd have to do is cancel and then rejoin. Lisa x

    Good post MissyS!

    More info here

This is topical in our house.

Yesterday we had to Sky+ part of the cup final. When I went to play back it was skipping and sound dropping out.

This has gone on since we've had it and kind of lived with it, but the cup final was the last straw.

Out of warranty now, but found a good thread on Digital spy on how this this a common problem and that you can demand a free engineer and even replacement box.

    http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...d.php?t=373467

So I fired off an email last night and we'll see how it goes.

That aside, Sky+ is brilliant and I wouldn't want to be without it.

Cost coming down is a good move. Don't mind paying for the kit, but a subscription is pushing it a bit.

It would be good to know if you get anywhere with a free box e.t.c., as I'm interested in getting Sky+ but fully aware of all the problems people have had. Lisa x

Just to update you, a couple of days ago we got this email:-

Thank you for your e-mail addressed to James Murdoch which has been passed for my attention.
I was sorry to learn that you are experiencing difficulty with your Sky+ system.
May I advise that I have arranged for a senior engineer to visit your home free of charge on Saturday 26 May 2007 reference 45727***. It is an all day call out, however he will contact you with an estimated time prior to 09:30 on Saturday. If this date is unsuitable please contact us on 08705 959595 and we can reschedule this for you. Unfortunately, should the equipment require replacing we are unable to guarantee the make and model as this is dependent on the stock available.
We want all our customers to get the best service possible and should you require further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be happy to help.

    Kind Regards

Now that's what I call service. A senior engineer and a possible box replacement for free.

To think we've put up with the prob for over a year now.

So if anybody has Sky +, and having probs, please make sure you email the above address!!!

Fingers crossed then your problems will be over. I haven't got Sky + yet as I'm concerned over the amount of problems many customers have had with it. Was thinking about switching to Virgin Media, but I hear they're just as bad. Lisa x

Shame if they are. I really want sky to have some serious competition.

Exactly, and then that would create a price war which would benefit the customers. I know you've had probs with Sky +, but would you still recommend it? Lisa x

Yes. Deffo. I rave about it.

Totally changed the way we watch TV. We went for the multi - room which meant we never paid for sky + sub. Just the box upgrade.

I was never very good at being in when something good is on. Now with the series link button, never miss anything. Also pausing progs is priceless.

That said, I've never used the Virgin solution and I know BT have something out or coming out, so I can't compare.

    The whole concept is great.
