Final update on this....
The engineer called yesterday and swapped the box for a brand new one. Not only that, but we've now got 40gb, not 20!
Not bad for nothing considering we're well out of contract.
Got to hand it to sky for doing it, but it's a shame they're not actively seeking to sort all customers.
Power of the internet eh folks?

That's great! Will wait until the 1st of July so the subscription is free, and might see if I can get a box cheaper elsewhere unless of course the box is free from Sky?. Lisa x

I imagine the problems of the skipping on the boxes is restricted to the older ones (like mine). It's an Amstrad. As it's a known prob and they have a fix, I expect your box will be a good one.
