Free ESTA (soon to have a fee)
If you're travelling to the US you MUST have an ESTA or you may be sent home. They are going to charge $14 from 8th September but you can still apply free just now and it's valid for 2 years (or until your passport expires - which ever is sooner).
https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/esta.html - please be wary as there are fake websites who will charge you for your application.
You need passport number/expiry. Flight/stay details also required but those can be changed at a later date. Make sure you print/write down the reference number so you can change details.
You will be told within 72 hours if your application has been successful so it's worth applying before you book flights etc in case you are rejected.
If you know any family or friends considering travelling to the US, make sure they apply. If they don't have internet access, they can get someone to fill it out for them.
