Default The price of Fuel hitting £1.40 a litre!!! Time for protests.

It's crazy really. Remember the fule protests in July 2000? Well they were because petrol was hitting 85p per litre.

Now we're touching £1.40 a litre It can cost £90 to fill an average size car.

Where the hell is the money going?

2/3 of the cost is tax so the Government has to take most of the blame. If the greedy oil company puts up the price, the government are coining it even more. Cameron won't care because I betcha it's been a long time since he paid for his own fuel and let's face it, it's 4 years until the next election, so we can't rely on democracy.

We need a well organised fuel protest. Hopefully somebody will come up with an idea very soon because I'll be in on it.

It's absolutely ridiculous! Completely agree that something needs to be done. Is there any other country that rips people off like ours, just out of interest?

I think we're the third most expensive country.

The tories promised in their election manifesto that they'd introduce a mechanism that lowered their tax take as prices increased - therefore reducing the impact. Have they introduced this yet? Course they haven't!!!!! That's democracy in the UK for you.

Apparently there is some sort of direct action being planned for within 3 weeks time. Let's hope so.

People should remember, even if they're not drivers themselves, fuel increases the price on everything.

I don't quite understand how it could cost £90 to fill an average family car? what is that figure based on, one months worth of petrol? it costs me just about £30 to fill up my tank, thats based on filling it up when the gauge is at the quarter tank mark. I do drive a compact 1 litre car though, so im sure larger cars will cost more but three times as much just to fill it up once? idk... it sure is alot of money! this month I have to pay for another years car insurance, plus its MOT and service, so im definitely feeling the pinch so to speak.. it'll likely be around or over £500 without thinking about the price of petrol...

I think they may have found a solution

Be a while before that's available though!

How amazing would that be. I betcha there's a few influential people who are hoping they fail. e.g. The chancellor, 3/4 of the Middle East & Russia.

How paranoid would you be? If I invented that, I'd just use it and keep it quiet.

The last line really says it all though. I'm sure it won't be long before it's over £1

From (Friday 4th May) you will pay no more than 136.7p per litre for unleaded and 141.7p per litre for diesel at Asda.

We’re leading the way in passing on the savings from a drop in global oil prices. It’s our second price drop on fuel in three weeks and should be good news for hard-pressed motorists throughout the UK.

Unlike other retailers we do everything we can to reduce prices for all of our customers wherever you live.

Research taken from PetrolPrices.com shows that some retailers are getting away with charging up to 147.9p per litre for unleaded and 151.9p per litre for diesel in towns without an Asda nearby.

We're cutting the price of fuel by another 2p this Bank Holiday

Yep no Asda here and there can be a huge difference in price between petrol stations in our town and the Asda near Edinburgh. Usually 4p+ difference

I got petrol at the weekend for 137.9 but I've heard it can be pretty cheap at one of the Tesco stations in Fife (my dad passes there on his way to visit his parents). Kind of not worth driving that far to get an extra 1 or 2p off though lol.
