    Default New laptop wanted.

I know you guys are experts in this field.

We've got a laptop, but to me the screen's too small. Clara likes it, so she can keep it.

Now I'm in the market for one for me. Only stipulation is a large screen. 17" would be nice. Other priority is battery life. I had a 17" screen before but the screen sucks power and the battery would last about 20 mins.

    Any recommendations?

    Thanks guys.

No personal experience but a work colleague recently bought http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/sto...5&category_oid at PC world, and so far has only good things to say about it. Lisa x

Well I've got the Advent 7211 and wouldn't recommend it.

It's in heavy use and the fan is already sounding dodgy, screens are extortionately expensive to replace (£250!) - and very easily chipped (hit it with your nail and you'll have a chip like mine )

Had a lot of problems with it at the beginning which could have been to do with Updates - it wasn't useable for 30 mins+ at a time till it sorted itself but not sure what happened as not happening now.

Is only a 15.1" screen though and battery life isn't bad but I generally have mine plugged in anyway.

Did you get anybody to look at it Debbie? Never owned a laptop myself, but my friend at work is so far over the moon with hers, I think she even loves it more than her husband . Lisa x

Well it seemed to fix itself and I need it so it's staying here for now

Managed to get my old one running the other night as that's still got stuff saved on it and couldn't believe I was actually able to use it - it was SO slow!

Perfect for what we'll use if for. Just went to currys and bought it. Was the same price as PC World online. As they didn't need to post it, I haggled a free mouse out of them (hate track pads). If you don't ask you don't get.

    Thanks.

The one year old just pulled the laptop off the table and the LCD screen is completely knackered.

17" screen too. It's like a cup of ink has been poured into it. I had the same problem with a previous lappy. Anybody any suggestions to replace it? Or is it destined for the skip.

Oh no! Dad said replacing these screens are £250 - maybe see if ebay has any and print out the manual to DIY.

I've knocked mine over a few times but luckily no damage - fan is getting worse though
