So, im going back to uni/hospital for my second year training as an Operating Department Practitioner and i've got a grand collection of 4 textbooks at home! University is too far away from hospital to keep using the library for books when im on placement so I could really do with my own copies but they are so expensive!
Topics I particularly need, are:
Anaesthetics
Pharmacology
Surgery
Recovery/accident and emergency nursing
General nursing
Anything with perioperative or operating department in title!
I've searched readitswapit and there are a few books but either people don't want to swap or they've not logged on in ages. There aren't any on swapshop that I can see (or green metropolis).
So, if anyone can find me any sites with keep textbooks OR new ways of earning amazon vouchers so I can buy them then I would be truly grateful!
thanks

The site used to be called CheapUniBooks but is now called Scrounge.it but it only shows new books but you really need a title/author. http://books.scrounge.it/
If you have a board at uni (we do for our course) you could put up a note asking if anyone in the year above has any they'd like to get rid of and make an offer.
http://www.bibliophilebooks.com/
http://www.thebookpeople.co.uk/ (offers cashback on several sites)
http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/
http://www.alibris.co.uk/
Not sure if those will be of any use but worth a shot (you'll know what you're looking for).
Also on RISI if you haven't already, leave a post in 'My wishlists' saying you're looking for books and some may try get a swap for you (and then you could swap one of your books with them).
Ways to earn Amazon vouchers: www.dooyoo.co.uk , www.valuedopinions.co.uk , www.thats-what-i-think.co.uk , www.smsinn.co.uk (and many other cashback sites).... can't think of anymore! If you do a search on here you'll be able to find individual posts with more info.

- 08-28-2007 06:31 PM #3WolfsbayneGuestMost medical students hang on to textbooks ive found, I think because they are so expensive in the first place and there's so much to know.
I have put about medical books on my wishlist on RISI but I suppose it is such a specific thing that very few people would have what I need.
Thanks for the other book sites, however, living on a small NHS bursary, means I really am limited to earning vouchers or swapping, unfortunately. Would be great to win the lottery round about now!

Good luck on the lottery
If you do daily clicks on Cashback sites you should be able to earn a bit of spending money - isn't a quick way of earning unless you are doing big buys but doesn't cost you anything. And you could always try competitions - small chance of winning but better odds than the lottery lol!

- 08-28-2007 06:44 PM #5WolfsbayneGuestI do most of those too but to be honest, I dont have the time other than in holidays, working 8am till 6pm four days a week and writing essays the rest of the time means I really struggle to find the time and energy to sit down and go through all my click sites, etc but I do try and do frankies, cashbag, archerfish, pigsback and petsmail each day.
I do mystery shopping too when I get the chance but most opportunities in my area are snapped up before I get a chance or I can't do them.
Need to think of some new ideas I think, have no idea what though!
